Original Ukulele Song::You Know The Kind

It’s been a while since I’ve written a new song.  I become more and more thankful for my ukulele journey — now moving toward 8 months of playing, loving, and being ever more and more grateful! This original song is called, You Know The Kind.  Don’t let anyone steal your joy!  🙂 🙂  Blessings for a wonderful and happy dappy Thursday!! 🙂

Original Ukulele Song::I Need Your Light

Woke up to a rainy morning so I thought it might be a good day to record a new, original song titled: I Need Your Light.  This song is inspired by a new friendship layered upon a newer friendship.  My girlfriend was telling me about an experience she had with a great friend in the dark of night.  On the bus ride home, I began to turn over what a GREAT metaphorical experience she had with this good friend and how this awesome friendship helped her walk through the night.  Thus, this song.  I hope you enjoy it and it encourages you. Happy Dappy Monday, Ya’ll and cheers to every single friendship that helps light a way through the darkest of nights!! 🙂  🙂

Original Ukulele Song::Cup of Tea

I know it’s been a bit since I’ve posted an original song but here’s one I recorded a few days ago called, Cup of Tea. I’ve been really trying to concentrate on learning cover songs but this song kept bubbling up so I just decided to take a break and record it quickly. As with mostly everything I do, it’s obvious that I have no clue how to really record but it’s all in good, clean fun! Hope your summer is wonderful wherever you are and whatever you’re doing!! 🙂 🙂 Thank you for following along my amazing uke journey. It’s been almost 5 months since I picked up the little 4-stringer… and I’m more infatuated than I was at day one! 🙂 🙂 Happy Dappy Friday, Ya’ll!! 🙂

A very special thank you to Steffen O. (stoman.org) and Stefan S. for helping me with chords and song arrangement. These guys continue to help me in a multitude of ways I could NEVER full express!! Sorry about the bad video recording… standard fare from me!! 🙂

Lean, Look, Love::Original Uke Song

www.facebook.com/ukebabykim

Some songs are more challenging than others. Original uke song, Lean, Look, Love is certainly was one of those as you’ll be able to tell but I still very much enjoyed the journey from concept to “print.” Ultimately, it’s about the long, never-ending journey (for me anyway) of what truly matters to me in this lifetime. 🙂 Happy Blessed weekend and I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed working on it.

(The next few weeks will be a little less productive (I think anyway) as I prepare for an international trip; however I hope once I’m settled, I can work on everything a little more consistently. We’ll see! Thank you VERY VERY much for following along and for being incredibly encouraging and kind to this fledgling singer/uke enthusiast!) 🙂 🙂

Original Song::Don’t Ask Me To Dance

https://www.facebook.com/ukebabykim/

I like to write quirky songs–this be one of them. 🙂 This song is adapted for the ukulele based from lyrics and melody that I originally wrote to German Music Producer and Friend, Steffen Offermann’s {stoman.org} very fun track. Hope you enjoy! 🙂

Don’t Ask Me To Dance

[Am] He stormed quickly from the floor; headed out the door.

Like those [Dm] 20 times before; but he usually came [Am] back … for more.

[Am]I’d always look him straight in the eye questioning every reply

He’d give [Dm] excuses why he didn’t want to do[Am] it anymore.

[Gm]So I stood there with both feet glued to the floor [Am]refusing to give him anymore room I [Dm]swore I wouldn’t give up on him like I had [Dm] 20 times before.  He yelled,

[Em]“Don’t Ask Me to Dance. I don’t want this romance. [Am]No more chance of messing it up Like I’ve [Dm—finger up] done 20 times [Dm]before!”

[Em] He He yelled, “Don’t Ask Me to Dance.  Don’t you understand? [Am]I don’t want this chance so please stop [Dm] asking.  Don’t Ask Me to [Dm]Dance anymore!”  [Em]

[Am]He stormed quickly from the floor; but then turned around and asked, [Dm]  “Is it only love songs you want from me like[Am] all the times before?”

[Am]I responded with a glare, half smile; and full, dark stare.  [Dm] “Why can’t you just do this one thing for me like you’ve [Am]done 20 times, before.

[Gm]And I stood there with both feet glued to the floor [Am]refusing to give him anymore room I [Dm]swore I wouldn’t give up on him like I had [[Dm] 20 times before. He yelled,

[Dm]No romance. [Dm]   Don’t Ask Me to Dance [Am]No chance. [Dm]Don’t Ask Me to Dance

My Soul’s Romance::Original Song for the Ukulele

Five weeks and 3 days! What a wonderful ride full of bumps, bruises and mostly blessings! 🙂 Here, I feature a brand new, original song on my upgraded acoustic-electric uke called, My Soul’s Romance.

Also, I created this Facebook Page called UkeBaby Kim 🙂 🙂 if anyone is interested in following this ukulele newbie. 🙂 My goal is simply to encourage anyone and everyone who wants it. Particularly those people who have been discouraged by inside fears and outside elitists. Will plan on posting encouragements, funnies, and thoughts for the journey as I travel! I will also include the chord charts for any original, ukulele songs and post some special collaborations where international friends have added mixing magic and instruments to some of the original songs to complete tracks. I have about 6 originals written for the ukulele if anyone wants very simple, easy, fluffy pop tunes to practice with. 🙂

Happy S(uke)nday to Everyone! 🙂

Just Promise Me (featuring music by Tony Fleitas)

Tony (Florida) approached me on the international music collaboration website I belong to (kompoz.com) about auditioning for a completely different song. While working on that song together, I listened to another one of his guitar tracks and immediately fell in love with it. The words seemed to write themselves as his magical guitar playing resonated in my head that day. He was gracious enough to allow me to sing and write words for it.

Raul (Florida) added the right touch of beat and George (South Carolina) came along with his ever-versatile but always fitting bass (that man can do everything!). 🙂 Nimara (Romania) added some light percussion and synth accompaniment while Nigel (Scotland) brought an uplifting strings, cello, and keys addition. Then, my dear friend, Stoman (Germany), who I ruthlessly call many different nicknames, but one thing is for sure; German engineering remains top notch—even with my less than perfect tracks to work with–mixed the song together making it into one cohesive music bouquet, as if we were all in the same studio room.

People connect to different songs; different genres; at different seasons in their lives. We hope you connect with this sweet song by Tony in whatever season you’re in. Thank you for listening! 🙂 ~ Kim

Promise Me and I’ll promise you.
When we say, “I do.” It’ll mean something true.
Promise Me, you’ll never depart.
Let’s try and avoid the silly talk and start loving each other with our hearts.

I swear today. I’m here to stay.
If you Promise Me, I’ll be here always.
I swear today, I’ll forever stay.
Just Promise Me. Promise Me.

Promise Me and I’ll promise you.
Let’s avoid all the fancy rhetoric.
Keeping it simple will be much better.

We’ll never have to settle for less.
If we always give each other our best.
Just Promise Me.

For Sure::Producer::Walter Paul Owen

What genre is this? Well, it’s got a little bit of everything: pop, rock, and even a little country or country alternative mixed in with some lounge feeling. The Producer, Walt, from Chicago, IL is one of those rough-n-tumble sweetheart of a guys who plays a mean guitar and makes dream productions. I’ve only had the opportunity to work with him a small bit but I hope to do more in the future.

George came and filled out the bottom end of this track with a rhythmic bass and jazzy synths while the Texas-based violinist added a wonderful fiddle part from Ben. We hope you enjoy this lounge pop song with country lyrics, flavor, and hint!

Walk on by, don’t shed a tear for me.
I won’t be here, when you get back home.
You made me believe, I was yours, For Sure.
The kind of love that would last through the years.
I don’t want this pain no more.
I can finally take a hint you’re just bored.
No, I don’t want this pain no more.
Take everything you want, just leave this time, For Sure.

Forgive me if I don’t seem to care anymore.
You make this life hard to bear when you act this way.
I followed you around like you were all there was, For Sure.
But now I’ve wised up and I’m ready to be on my own.
